Webinar Series for the Korean American Sandwich Generation
Join the K-Coalition for an insightful webinar tailored for the Korean American "sandwich generation" balancing the care of young children and aging parents while navigating cultural, language, and financial barriers. Led by two clinicians from the MARU Center, this session will focus on caregiver burnout, the importance of respite care, and giving yourself permission to rest. Attendees will gain practical resources and guidance to help manage their caregiving journey.
Biographies
Jooyeon (she/her) is a bilingual wellness counselor and case manager at MARU (formerly known as Korean Community Center of the East Bay) who is passionate about providing trauma-informed and culturally responsive care to immigrant adults and youth. She is dedicated to honoring each individual's unique experiences and strengths within a community-based setting, fostering connection, healing, and resilience. Outside of work, she enjoys hiking, crabbing, and finding the next best restaurant.
Dana (she/her) is a wellness counselor and case manager at MARU and the daughter of Korean immigrants, born and raised on the East Coast. She earned her Master's degree in Clinical Social Work from Smith College in 2024. At MARU, works with clients across the lifespan, with a particular focus on serving AAPI elders and their caregivers. Her approach offers support rooted in collectivistic, holistic approaches to healing that address the mind, body, and spirit.
